The Royal Academy of Music, one of the UK’s foremost music conservatoires, offers outstanding tuition to young, talented musicians up to 18 years old within its Saturday programme, Junior Academy. As part of Junior Academy, First String Experience (FSE) is a long-established first access musicianship and bowed string teaching programme for 4 to 7 year olds.

Community First Strings Experience (CFSE) takes the well-established Junior Academy FSE programme into two London based primary schools. The CFSE programme started with 90 children in September 2021. By 2023-24, 270 children will be enrolled on CFSE.

We seek to offer one paid fellowship to support the teaching of cello to groups of about 10 pupils within the CFSE course, as well as participating in other duties such as concerts, as required by the FSE Director.

The successful applicant will provide expertise in the area of cello, integrated with musicianship teaching from the earliest stages of learning.
