Big Noise Douglas (Dundee) are looking for Cover Musicians (Strings, Percussion & General Musicianship) to work as part of a dynamic team delivering a visionary, socially driven children’s orchestra centre.

Sistema Scotland’s vision is to improve lives and strengthen communities. Working with children and their families, the programme is focused on early intervention and stimulating generational social change, increasing confidence, aspiration, community cohesion, pride and developing high level skills in the young people involved. We deliver our work through the creation of Big Noise programmes within communities, and currently run six programmes in Raploch & Fallin in Stirling, Govanhill in Glasgow, Torry in Aberdeen, Douglas in Dundee and Wester Hailes in Edinburgh.

Cover Musicians enable us to continue our core delivery when Musicians are on leave or are unwell. They also help greatly in the build up to important events when we need extra support to fully prepare the children.

Cover Musicians are offered work as and when required by Sistema Scotland on a self-employed basis. There is no obligation for Sistema Scotland to offer Cover Musicians work, or for Cover Musicians to accept any work offered to them. Fees are £30 per hour for the first 2 hours and £25 per hour thereafter.

HOW TO APPLY

If you are interested in applying for the opportunities above, please email your CV and covering letter to recruitment@sistemascotland.org.uk, along with details of the names and contact details for two professional referees.

Musicians are offered work subject to PVG check although having a criminal record will not necessarily be a bar to working with Sistema Scotland.

The selection process will include a panel interview, a short audition and a demonstration lesson.
