Closing date:Nov 21, 2022

(part-time)
The cello section currently comprises two principals and four tutti players. In addition, we are now looking for 2 deputy principals who will mostly play from the 2nd and 3rd chairs. You will lead the section for some performances each season. In addition to playing symphonic repertoire in the orchestra, you will also be available for (educational and social) activities and staged performances in smaller ensembles.
Requirements for the position
It goes without saying that you are a distinguished cellist, able to provide the principal with support without taking over the lead. You must be able to take the principal’s place seamlessly if the need should arise. We consider it essential that each of our players is an ambassador for our orchestra. You must be a positive team player who can strike the right balance between individuality and sectional playing.
Applications and procedure
Please submit your application no later than 21 November 2022, using a fully completed application form, for which you can find the template on our website at www.residentieorkest.nl/vacatures.
Auditions for this position will be held on Tuesday 10 January 2023 (preliminary and first rounds) and Wednesday afternoon, 11 January 2023 (final round). Compulsory works:
– Joseph Haydn: Cello Concerto in D major, op. 101, 1st movement without cadenza;
– own choice between the 1st movement of the Cello Concerto op. 104 by Antonin Dvorak or the 1st movement of the Cello Concerto by Robert Schumann, op. 129;
– further chamber music yet to be determined, to be played with members of the Orchestra (final round only);
– orchestral parts yet to be determined.
The selection committee reserves the right to make a pre-selection from those submitting written applications. An application interview will be part of the selection process. You may contact Sana van Iddekinge (Head of Personnel & Organisation) for further information about the procedure at: sana.van.iddekinge@residentieorkest.nl.
