Teacher Training Seminar 2024

Drawing on the vast experiences of a diverse teaching team, this intensive, virtual summer seminar will cover a broad array of subjects relevant to cello teachers at all levels of experience. Topics this year include explorations in shifting and vibrato, practice strategies for busy students, applying Feldenkreis Principles in your teaching, essentials for cello beginners, early steps in developing keyboard visualization, the art of cadenza writing and many, many more. Our classes are designed to bolster pedagogical knowledge and skills, with opportunities for participants to engage directly with our faculty in both formal and informal Q & A settings. Faculty in 2023 include master teachers Paul Katz, Tanya Carey, Mark Churchill, Sandra Halleran, Khari Joyner, Alison Bazala Kim, Kee-Hyun Kim, Ken Kubota, Jisoo Ok, Aristides Rivas, and David Ying.

Audition Preparation Workshop 2023

CelloBello’s Audition Preparation Workshop is a virtual seminar designed to help prospective undergraduate and graduate students prepare for their school auditions, including the prescreening process. This two-week intensive features masterclasses, private lessons, and panel discussions, all centered around empowering students with the tools to succeed in their auditions.

CelloChat: Kee-Hyun Kim

A native of Seoul, Korea, cellist Kee-Hyun Kim has been praised for his "assertive style...and vital musical spirit." (Pittsburgh Tribune) On faculty at Harvard University’s Department of Music, he is a founding member of the Grammy Award-winning Parker Quartet, Blodgett Artists-in-Residence at Harvard since 2014. The quartet travels extensively around North America, Europe and Asia, and has recorded for ECM, Naxos, Innova, Zig Zag and Nimbus labels. Some awards and distinctions include 1st prize at the Bordeaux String Quartet competition, the Cleveland Quartet Award, and 2010's Grammy Award for "Best Chamber Music Performance.”
