The Lillian and Maurice Barbash J.S. Bach Competition
Overview
An international competition for string players age 16-30, performing works (Partitas, Sonatas or Suites) by Bach for unaccompanied, bowed string instrument. Modern or baroque instruments welcome. Grand Prize: $5000. Winner will be featured artist at Island Symphony Bach Festival on January 30, 2022. Winner will also be presented at a house concert in New York City.
Second Place Prize: $1000.
Applications will be accepted beginning July 1, 2021. Entry fee: $25. Deadline is October 10, 2021. Finalists will be announced on November 12, 2021. Finals will be held at Stony Brook University on December 1, 2021 at 1pm and will be streamed by The Violin Channel. Jurors are: violinists Robert Mealy, Eugene Drucker, Marilyn McDonald; cellist, Colin Carr; and harpsichordist, Arthur Haas.
