The Melbourne Symphony Orchestra are accepting applications from outstanding musicians for the full-time permanent position of: Assistant Principal Cello

Requirements for the audition are as follows:
Two contrasting movements from the Haydn cello concerto in C OR the Haydn cello concerto in D, with piano accompaniment,
PLUS First movement from a standard Romantic/20th Century cello concerto, with piano accompaniment
PLUS orchestral excerpts

All candidates will be required to submit a recording for the first round. For all subsequent rounds, candidates may present live for an audition, or choose to submit a recording.

The orchestral excerpts and repertoire for the first round will be advised on Friday 8 April 2022. All recordings of the first round requirements will need to be provided to MSO by COB Friday 6 May 2022. All candidates will be advised of their results from the first round no later than Friday 13 May 2022.

For all subsequent rounds, applicants who are successful in progressing past the first round will be invited to attend a live audition in Melbourne on Tuesday 24 May 2022, or may choose to submit a recording if they are unable to present in person for the audition.
