Chopin: Cello Sonata in G minor, Op. 65, Mvt. 3
Frédéric Chopin composed the Cello Sonata in G minor, Op. 65, between 1846 and 1847, dedicating it to cellist Auguste Franchomme. The last three movements were first performed publicly by Franchomme and Chopin at the composer’s final public concert at the Salle Pleyel in Paris on February 16, 1848. One of the most popular sonatas in todays repertoire, the third movement in particular enjoys an iconic stature as one of the most beloved works in the entire repertoire.
