Cellists Unite in Support of Ukraine Video Premiere

CelloBello, the world’s leading resource on all things cello, has gathered cellists from around the world in a musical tribute dedicated to those who have fought and sacrificed for freedom in Ukraine since the Russian full-scale invasion began on February 24th of this year. August 24 marks not only the 6-month marker from the start of all-out war, but more importantly is Independence Day of Ukraine. CelloBello will host several events, including the premiere of an internationally-collaborative music video, a livestream conversation with Ukrainian musicians, and a live conversation with cellists who participated in the project.

Following the release of the music video and conversation with members of the Kyiv Contemporary Music Days (KCMD) team and Ukrainian Classical Musicians Support Fund, CelloBello will host a conversation with cellists that participated in the music video. The conversation offers the opportunity to explore in words what this musical collaboration was all about.

Paul Katz is known to concertgoers the world over as cellist of the Cleveland Quartet, which, during an international career of 26 years, made more than 2,500 appearances on four continents. As a member of this celebrated ensemble from 1969 to 1995, Katz performed at the White House and on many television shows, including "CBS Sunday Morning," NBC's "Today Show," "The Grammy Awards" (the first classical musicians to appear on that show), and in "In The Mainstream The Cleveland Quartet," a one-hour documentary televised across the U.S. and Canada.

Drawing on the vast experiences of a diverse teaching team, this intensive, virtual summer seminar will cover a broad array of subjects relevant to cello teachers at all levels of experience. Topics this year include explorations in shifting and vibrato, practice strategies for busy students, applying Feldenkreis Principles in your teaching, essentials for cello beginners, early steps in developing keyboard visualization, the art of cadenza writing and many, many more. Our classes are designed to bolster pedagogical knowledge and skills, with opportunities for participants to engage directly with our faculty in both formal and informal Q & A settings. Faculty in 2023 include master teachers Paul Katz, Tanya Carey, Mark Churchill, Sandra Halleran, Khari Joyner, Alison Bazala Kim, Kee-Hyun Kim, Ken Kubota, Jisoo Ok, Aristides Rivas, and David Ying.

Audition Preparation Workshop 2023

CelloBello’s Audition Preparation Workshop is a virtual seminar designed to help prospective undergraduate and graduate students prepare for their school auditions, including the prescreening process. This two-week intensive features masterclasses, private lessons, and panel discussions, all centered around empowering students with the tools to succeed in their auditions.

CelloBello x Chamber Music | OC

Chamber Music | OC is thrilled to launch a partnership with the renowned educational platform, CelloBello, founded by legendary cellist, Paul Katz. Mr. Katz, alongside pianist Pei-Shan Lee, will be featured in a series of discussion panels and master classes throughout the day. This unique, one-day-only event will conclude with a performance in which Ms. Lee will be joined by violinist Iryna Krechkovsky, violist Che-Yen Chen, and cellist Yoshida Masuda.
