Duration:00:10:00
Instrumentation:Pan flute or transverse flute, viola, cello and harp
Year:2006
Work Type:

This piece was commissioned, recorded and performed numerous times by Switzerland’s premier pan flutist Urban Frey. It also works well with the transverse flute. From the CD booklet notes: “During composition, I gave myself the task of juxtaposing strongly contrasting episodes, which give the piece a clear and dramatic form. The title suggests a sunrise, personified by the roman goddess Aurora. Romantic melodic sections alternate with angular, sharply pointillistic ones. Towards the end the music intensifies and brings the ecstatic drama to its high point.”
