Work Type:

In the mid 2000s I prepared a choral piece using a fragment from Dante’s Divine Comedy. It turned out to be too difficult for the group I had written it for. During the first Covid year I had a fresh look at it and adapted it for string quartet. The syllable stresses that were in the original choral incarnation remain, as well as episodes that are reminiscent of
recitative. There are lyrical passages, canonical passages, unisono passages, interruptions, eruptions and a strong dynamic drive to the end.
